As the ongoing season Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), enters the crucial second round, the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has charged the management team and the technical crew of Bendel Insurance FC to work together to improve the clubs’ performance.
He state this on Tuesday in Benin, at the official unveiling of a new management team for the club.
Okpebholo who spoke through his Deputy, Dennis Idahosa, also urged the newly-recruited players to shun every act of indiscipline and hooliganism.
“The new coach, the technical directors and the team management must work together to improve on the performance and advance the club beyond Premier league tournament.
“The new players must shun indiscipline, hooliganism and embrace team work to place them ahead in the league,” he said.
The Governor added that the event underscored the State’s commitment to sports development and excellence, and its avowed dedication to revitalising the State’s football clubs and fostering talent development.
Those unveiled included the new Head Coach, Greg Ikhenoba; Technical Director, Augustine Iyamu, Team Manager, Peter Obanor and Scouting Director, Idemudia Esigbe.
Meanwhile, the General Manager of Bendel Insurance FC of Benin, Roland Abu, has vowed to ensure that the team does not go into relegation.
Abu emphasised the club’s commitment to strengthening its squad and improving performance in the second half of the season.
“They are battling relegation and we want to make sure we remove them out of relegation and keep them safe so that they can be in a safe position.
“We are doing some recruitment. We are screening players and want to fortify the team. That is ongoing already. At the second round of the league, we will fix them into the team.”
Earlier, the Chairman of Edo State Sport Commission, Desmond Enabulele, deacribed the gathering as unique, as it avails an opportunity to unveil the team that would take the clubs to national and international competitions.
