President Donald Trump of the United States of America, has demanded an immediate end to the ongoing Russia/Ukraine war.
Trump issued this stern warning to the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, in a series of statements shared on his Truth Social platform on Wednesday.
This latest warning follows Trump’s earlier criticism of Putin, signalling a significant shift in his tone toward the Russian leader.
Although he previously promised to end the war within 24 hours of taking office, the conflict still remains unresolved.
Trump who emphasised the urgency of resolving the conflict, warned Putin to put an end to the war or face unprecedented economic penalties, including new taxes, tariffs and sanctions.
“We can do it the easy way or the hard way,” he wrote, pledging to impose severe financial measures on Russia if the war persists.
The U.S. President who criticised Putin’s leadership, accused him of “destroying Russia” through the prolonged conflict that began in February 2022.
According to him, the war would not have started under his presidency.
“If we don’t make a deal soon, I have no choice but to put high levels of taxes, tariffs, and sanctions on anything being sold by Russia to the United States and other participating countries. Let’s get this war over with!” Trump declared.
But, despite his strong rhetoric, President Trump still acknowledged his affection for the Russian people and his past cordial relationship with Putin, stating: “I’m not looking to hurt Russia. I love the Russian people.”
