The Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasanjo, has been impeached.
The 52-year-old Obasa who is serving third term as Speaker, was first elected Speaker on June 8, 2015.
He was accused of alleged corruption and financial mismanagement.
Amongst other things, he was alleged to have mismanaged ₦17 billion on a gate to the assembly complex.
He was also accused of contempt against the person of the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
He was said to have been questioned by the Economic amd Financial Crimes Commission over the alleged infractions.
At the time of his impeachment, Obasa was said to be away in Atlanta, USA.
He was replaced with his deputy, Lasbat Meranda, the member representing Apapa Constituency 1.
