What Governor Okpebholo Said About Retired Edo CP, Peter Ozigi

The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has described the out-gone Commissioner in charge of Edo State Police Command, CP Umoru Peter Ozigi, as a God-fearing man.

Okpebholo stated this on Saturday in Benin, at a parade organized to pull-out the CP after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.

Ozigi who was born on 25 January, 1965, got enlisted into the Police Force in 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

He served for 23 meritorious years in various capacities and rose to the height of his career.

Okpebholo who was represented by his Deputy, Dennis Idahosa, noted tbat Ozigi came to Edo at the time the state was facing the challenge of cult-related fight, but, was able to bring peace to the state.

“The outgoing CP Ozigi, came at the time when Edo State was facing the challenges of cultism and cult-related fights, but he was able to being peace and stability to the state.

“So, we are here to thank him for his sacrifices and his outstanding service to the people of Edo State, ensuring that there is stability and peace in the state,” he said.

“We are here on behalf the people of the state to say thank to the outgoing CP,” the Governor state.

In his goodwill message, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (IGP), Zone 5, Mr Arungwa Udo, commended Ozigi for his exceptional service to the nation and the maintenance of order in Edo.

He noted that the legacy of the retiree will outlive him and also guide others behind him.

“Retiring does not mean you would be tired. We will look forward to you for advice based your enormous experience,” he said.

Earlier in his valedictory address, the outgone CP said he was leaving the Police with a sense of gratitude, fulfilment and reflection.

He said: “From my first day as a Cadet to the Commissioner of Police in Edo state, each experience has shaped me professionally.

“I have had the privilege of working with dedicated officers, supportive colleague and resilient communities and together we have fight to uphold the law, protecting the innocent and serve the nation with integrity.”

Ozigi expressed gratitude and appreciation to the leadership of the police force for their guidance and support through out his career.

He also commended his fellow officers for their commitment and bravery, and appreciated the support of his family.

The CP hailed the government and people of Edo for their trust and cooperation, even as he commended their collaborative efforts in crime prevention and community engagement.

“I hope the relationship between the police and the public will continue to foster a safer environment for all.

“I urge you to remain steadfast in your duty, serving with passion and upholding the values of their profession,” he said

The colorful pullout parade was witnessed by top police officers, representatives of the Oba of Benin, the of the State Governor and family members who cheered him out.
